2013 Camps - Red Deer

Due to the positive feedback we received regarding the four day format, we have decided to carry on with the model we used last year. The majority of our staff from last year will be back to ensure that we offer an even better experience for all participants!

Four Day Skills Camps - August 6-9 - Kin City A Arena

These camps will offer very specific programs for Dynamite (born 2007/2008), Novice (born 2005/2006), Atom (born 2003/2004). The Dynamite camp will include an hour of ice time and an off-ice activity each day. This camp is intended for players who are new to organized hockey (graduates of the RDMH 5 year old program, Initiation, or first year hockey players). We will emphasize skating throughout the camp and introduce players to puck control, passing and shooting. We aim for an excellent coach to participant ratio to ensure all participants have a positive introduction to hockey. The Novice and Atom programs will feature two hours of ice time and an off-ice activity each day. The skills progression for this camp is as follows - Day 1: Skating (forward and backward stride, edge control, balance and agility, tight turns and starting/stopping). Day 2: Puck Skills (passing, stickhandling, shooting). Day 3: Creating Offense (small area games, offensive skills, shooting and scoring.) Day 4: Individual Tactics (offensive and defensive). Please note that skating skills will be emphasized each day.

Four Day 3 on 3 Camps - August 6-9 - Kin City A Arena

Due to the interest in last year's 3 on 3 camps, we are offering two groups of 3 on 3. One session is open to Atom-aged players (born 2003/2004) and one session is open to Pee Wee-aged (born 2001/2002) players. We can accept up to 24 skaters and 4 goaltenders in each session. Each ice session will include a short warm up, followed by a variety of 3 on 3 games. These games ensure that all participants stay active and provide an excellent opportunity for players to learn defensive positioning, how to find open ice, game sense, and read/react skills.

Five Day Full Day Camps - August 12-16 - Kin City A Arena

This camp runs August 12 - 16 and will feature full day programs for Novice (born 2005/2006), Atom (born 2003/2004) and Pee Wee (born 2001/2002) players. The Novice, Atom and Pee Wee programs will be similar to last year's camps. Each day, participants receive of 165 minutes of ice time, classroom sessions, dryland training, and recreation activities. Our Pee Wee program is specifically tailored to include contact confidence and checking skills. There will also be a 5 hour program for all goaltenders who register in this camp. The goalie session is included in the registration price and will provide registered goaltenders with an extra hour of goalie-specific drills from 5:30 - 6:30 each day of camp. We will accept goaltenders who are not registered in a full day camp if space permits.
