Due to the overwhelming response to our Red Deer camp, we decided to expand the programs we offer. We will now be offering two weeks of programs with some exciting new options.
Four Day Skills Camps - August 7-10 - Kin City A Arena
These camps will offer very specific programs for Dynamite (born 2006/2007), Novice (born 2004/2005), Atom (born 2002/2003) and Female (born 2002 - 2005) players. The Dynamite camp will include an hour of ice time and an off-ice activity each day. This camp is intended for players who are new to organized hockey (graduates of the RDMH 5 year old program, Initiation, or first year hockey players). We will emphasize skating throughout the camp and introduce players to puck control, passing and shooting. We aim for an excellent coach to participant ratio to ensure all participants have a positive introduction to hockey The Novice, Atom, and Female programs will feature two hours of ice time and an off-ice activity each day. The skills progression for this camp is as follows - Day 1: Skating (forward and backward stride, edge control, balance and agility, tight turns and starting/stopping). Day 2: Puck Skills (passing, stickhandling, shooting). Day 3: Creating Offense (small area games, offensive skills, shooting and scoring.) Day 4: Individual Tactics (offensive and defensive). We are excited to offer a girls-only group for Novice and Atom aged players. Female players are welcome to register in any session, but we think that having a female-only group will provide a unique opportunity for young ladies to learn and have fun.
Five Day Full Day Camps - August 13-17 - Kin City A Arena
This camp runs August 13 - 17 and will feature full day programs for Novice (born 2004/2005), Atom (born 2002/2003) and Pee Wee (born 2000/2001) players. The Novice, Atom and Pee Wee programs will be similar to last year's camps Players receive up to 3 hours of ice time, classroom sessions, dryland training, and recreation activities. Our Pee Wee program has expanded to a full day and our program will include skill development (including checking and contact confidence.) There will also be a 5 hour program for all goaltenders who register in this camp. The goalie session is included in the registration price and will provide registered goaltenders with an extra hour of goalie-specific drills from 6:30 - 7:30 each day of camp.
